MY CABIN

I don't like what they've done to my cabin.

They painted it a faux weathered look. Well, it already had the weathered look. From weather.

They rebuilt the deck floor so it doesn't slope anymore. How will their kids practice skateboarding in summer and snowboarding in winter?

When the living room was expanded, somehow the large stone fireplace shrunk, no longer dominating with its warmth and light. What was once my daughter's sweet little bedroom is now a walk-in closet and her loft (at various times a bed, a castle or a fort) has become storage.

The rooms are green now, various hues throughout. They must be going for the effect of adjoining the green outside in the woods, but to me, it diminishes the coziness of being inside out of the elements.

Oh there is one thing that seems okay. The mudroom is now a pantry. Probably more practical for them. They seem the kind of people who can live in the middle of this rainforest and never get muddy.

Otherwise I don't like what they've done to my cabin. Then I remember it isn't my cabin anymore.
